WEST LOS ANGELES VA HOUSING PROJECT ESTIMATED AT $1.25 MILLION PER UNIT
A West Los Angeles VA project will convert part of historic Building 13 into 24 apartments for homeless veterans at an estimated $1.25 million per unit. The complete $52 million renovation includes $22 million for ground-floor veteran services. Advocates question whether replacing the building could have produced far more housing and whether the project balances housing needs with the campus town center and supportive services envisioned for veterans.

The 23rd Annual Compton Veterans Stand Down will be held September 26–28, 2026, at the Compton Housing Authority. The event brings together government agencies, nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, businesses, and volunteers to connect veterans with housing, healthcare, benefits assistance, employment resources, legal services, and other essential support. Join us as we honor those who served and strengthen our veteran community.
