The 23rd Annual Compton Veterans Stand Down brought veterans and their families together for three days of services, resources and fellowship. For the Love of Our Veterans thanks the City of Compton, Compton Chamber of Commerce, Compton Housing Authority, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Compton College, participating organizations, donors and volunteers who helped make the Stand Down possible.

Previously vandalized, the monument honored fallen service members and the families who remember them. Its theft represents more than stolen property—it is a profound insult to veterans, military families, and the sacrifices they made. Those responsible must be held accountable, and the memorial should be recovered or restored.

Driving Safely With Hearing Loss: Resources and Support for Southern California Veterans
Hearing loss does not automatically prevent veterans from driving safely. With appropriate hearing care, visual-alert technology, defensive-driving habits and a traffic-stop communication plan, veterans can maintain their independence. Southern California resources include VA audiology services, the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness and local Hearing Loss Association chapters offering treatment, advocacy, education and support.

Veteran Homelessness Declines Sharply Across Greater Los Angeles
Veteran homelessness across Greater Los Angeles declined sharply in 2026. The latest count identified 2,257 veterans experiencing homelessness—793 fewer than in 2025 and approximately 42% below the 2023 estimate. Improved outreach, coordinated case management, and expanding VA housing are helping, but continued local support, referrals, Stand Down events, and housing assistance remain essential.
